PROJECT OBJECTIVE 活動目標

This project aims to preserve Hong Kong’s history and culture by recording, editing, and managing field sound files. The sound files will be shared on an online sound map using the Google Maps API and other website application software. Starting with the Wan Chai district, our goal is to capture the unique sounds of Hong Kong through creative sound recording. To achieve this, we will develop an open-source online sound map that encourages contributors to share their own recordings. By creating a comprehensive sound archive, users will have access to the distinct sounds of Hong Kong, enabling them to engage in an immersive online sound walk and explore the city’s auditory landscape. Furthermore, this project contributes to the greater visibility of production and teaching at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. It showcases the institution’s commitment to preserving and celebrating the arts, culture, and history of Hong Kong.
